Tre Sverd (lyrics by Sergey AR Pavlov, excluding the spoken words from "Heimskringla" by Snorri Sturluson)
I
Crimson waves splash out the boards,
Shields are licked by tongues of swords,
Blind fury leafs a blood-soaked page
Of another flame-coloured age!
II
Thirst for glory is the history's lips
Brushing the foes with a deadly kiss.
Never wait for a dead man’s shoes,
Face your fate, nothing to lose!
Chorus
Behold the ghostly dragons’ horde
Under the misty veil by the Hafrsfjord –
Blood will splash out the boards
Under the sign of three swords!
III
On the shores of the storming rage
There's no place for chains and cage,
Drink red mead of your endless fights
On the path the sea dragon rides!
"Skip kom austantil,
stundande paa ufred,
med gapande hovud
og gravne platur.
Med stridsmenn var dei
Ladde og skjoldar blanke,
med vesterlands-spjot
og valske sverd.
Berserkar bura,
paa bragdir tenkte,
ulvhednar ula,
jarnvaapn glumde" - (Spoken words from "Heimskringla")
Chorus:
Behold the ghostly dragons’ horde
Under the misty veil by the Hafrsfjord –
Blood will splash out the boards
Under the sign of three swords!

Три меча (lyrics & translation into Russian by Sergey AR Pavlov, excluding the spoken words from "Heimskringla" by Snorri Sturluson)
I
III

Historical background of “Tre Sverd” by HEATHER WASTELAND
The track was composed in 1999 and had no title. Moreover, in 2001, at the time of HEATHER WASTELAND’s formation, as well as the debut concert performance of the track, it still had no name.
The title occurred to AR in the spring of 2003, when HEATHER WASTELAND ceased to exist, and AR, during his stay in Norway, visited “Sverd i fjell”, the monument dedicated to the Battle of Hafrsfjord (872). According to Snorri Sturluson's “Saga of Harald Fairhair” from “Heimskringla”, the werewolf warriors participated in this battle and it remained in the memory of the Vikings as the most violent and significant sea battle.
According to AR, the creation of his music for “Tre Sverd” was inspired by MORTIIS’ album “Crypt of the Wizard” (1996), therefore Mortiis’ featuring in the recording of “Tre Sverd” is more than just symbolic.
